Nelleke Beltjens is born in the Netherlands in 1974. She graduated from the Academy of Art in Tilburg the Netherlands and obtained an M.A in Sculpture from the Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, US and an M.F.A in Art Studio from the University of California, Davis, US. She has shown her work at Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, Deurle, Belgium and the Museum Villa Zanders, Bergisch Gladbach, Germany and BACC in Bangkok, Thailand. She has had numerous solo shows and group shows in the US and in Europe. Awarded residencies include VCCA, VA, Vermont Studio Center, VT, Kala Art Institute, CA, MacDowell Colony, NH, Ucross Foundation, WY, CCA Andratx Mallorca (Spain), Yaddo NY, Hommes Foundation the Netherlands, Kaus Australis, Rotterdam the Netherlands, and Playa, OR. She has been awarded twice the Basisstipendium, Art Grant Award by the Fonds voor Beeldende Kunsten, Vormgeving en Bouwkunst, Amsterdam, the Netherlands and recently a grant from the Mondrian Fund in Amsterdam. From 2007 until December 2011 Beltjens has been Assistant Professor and Head of the Sculpture Department at the Montana State University, Bozeman. At this moment working in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
